John Garcia plays a Kyuss set at Roadburn!

    • MarekMarek
    • Did someone post this already? Thought this may be of interest... haha...

      Nice idea eh?

    • Yeah, there was a discussion on the Roadburn 2010 thread. Should be an amazing occasion, although I'm still against a Kyuss reunion.

      This ^

John's voice is still as good as ever, so doubt it'll be bad. Just wish John would do more stuff

    • Why against a reunion out of interest? Obviously doubt it will happen anyway.

Would like to see Brant Bjork drumming at least. That would really make a big difference.

I saw them in 94, hehe... and the early QOTSA gigs were awesome for the Molten Universe performances etc.

    • I'm a gigantic Kyuss fan, and always have been, and a large part of me would love to see them do it live. Plus, I would probably pay huge amounts of money to do so if it did happen.

That said, I just don't think it would be cool. Josh and John disbanded the band for a reason, and went on to do many great different projects. I think that even though I am too young to appreciate that time, there was definitely a time and a place for Kyuss, and it wouldn't be right unless it was that time. I think the same about Rage Against The Machine (I saw their reunion at Leeds in 08 and it was such a disappointment).

If I could travel back in time to see them at a gig in the desert, some sweaty bar in LA or the Marquee Club gig, I would in an instant. I just doubt it would look, sound or be the same, and I really respect Homme for saying that he never wants to do it again for those reasons, even though the cash would be huge. I'm not a fan of the phrase "selling out", but I really believe they were one of the great underground bands, and should always remain that way.

    • This isn't about a re-union though...this is about John playing Kyuss songs.

The credibility of that is up for question - however, tell me (any of you) with a straight face you won't fucking love it if you were at Roadburn next April when he's doing it - while you're drunk, abroad, intoxicated and having a great time and I'll still call you a big massive liar.

I've got my Roadburn ticket and am going to be singing and dancing along. I never saw Kyuss - this is going to be fucking brilliant.

And I bet I'll be calling all those who don't attend jealous moaners when I get back ;)

I agre matey, as this isn't a reunion, more a celebration of the songs, and that will be awesome, and who better to have the vox!

Enjoy it! And you're right... I'm still jealous!

    • If I was at Roadburn I'd be all over it. If they did a similar thing in in London I'd be there like a shot. Just not sure how it'd turn out.

Well put, below is a borrowed quote from the Rekords Rekords forum:

"The offers come in all the time. They're getting more and more expensive, and more and more elaborate. The money is crazy, but I've never been tempted – I don't really care about the money, I never have. That's not what KYUSS was about, so to punctuate the end of our sentence with that would be blasphemy. KYUSS fans are so fuckin' rad, they're fuckin' badass — but to me, reunions are just not necessary. It's not what it was, it's what it is, and KYUSS was a really magical thing — and if you weren't there, well, you weren't. That's just the luck of the draw. I don't feel the urge to do it for somebody who didn't have the opportunity to see us, or just didn't take the opportunity to see us. I'll let other bands alter their great legacies. KYUSS has such a great history that it would be a total error. I like that nobody saw KYUSS, and that it was largely misunderstood. That sounds like a legend forming to me. I'm too proud of it to rub my dick on it." –Josh Homme, May 2007

Great quote! I do agree, luckily I WAS there, hehe.

Yeah, Garage gig, was already good then they started playing that track. It actually sounded better than the Underworld Kyuss show, so fucking heavy. Would love to see that bootleg yeah!

    • This quote was pretty much what I was on about, to me it makes total sense.

Sounds wicked, any chance of that link please?

    • MarekMarek
    • Yeah amazing!

Brant Bjork is playing too right? Although the line-up has been announced and is unknown types? This is probably all on the Roadburn thread. Still hoping to get a ticket by hook or crook

Nah, Fredo hasn't been with BB for a couple of years. Some young Spanish guy with dreads last time I saw 'em. He was good, but nothing compared to the hypno-groove of the FREDO!

I'm not going to think of it as a reunion, get drunk and high and enjoy the hell out of it.

Yeah, but he's there... do you really think BB won't want to play some of the many songs he wrote himself... has to happen!
    • JackJack
    • That would be cool but I don't think it would happen, never know
    • MarekMarek
    • Are they not friendly? I guess maybe you're right, it just seems so obvious....
