Black lager? What fresh madness is this?

My weekend looks a lot like Mike's, except I'm going to see the Mighty Boosh tonight and I want something fun to do on Saturday evening. Done too much nothing this week already.

To be honest, whenever we go, we never see much but I love what I have seen, I went off for a big walk last time just to take it in.

    • Sadly we only saw the inside of a pub when we played there and I've never had a proper chance to look around.

    • Tonight and tomorrow - Chillax, plays some BF2142, finish season 8 of CSI

Saturday - Off to my mate's little boy's faux-christening in the afternoon. Watch England game. Then a manic 2 hour window to set up a PA and full kit and then soundcheck in preparation for Bad Date gig at our local. Drink beer, play some rock and roll and terrify the locals with our raw style and play songs they don't know

Sunday - I predict a hangover and feeling sorry for myself, then take out my frustrations on a football at 5-a-side

    • BLACK BEER

      Drink of Derby Champions.

    • The Black Beer I've experienced was like a mixture of treacle and melted liquorice. It also said on the label it was meant for cooking with. Mike will remember it well.

Duddell brought something like that home from Sainsburys once and instantly regretted it.

We've played 3 different venues now on 4 occasions of being there, they ahve varied between massive, cold and echoey (Subway), posh real ale pub on the royal mile (canons gate) and a tiny basement under a chinese restaurant (Henrys). Very varied and in different areas, love the hilly streets and the castle looming over the place.

    • I got quite in to black lager in Prague. They had black Budvar on tap last night. 6 of those does funny things to your insides I've discovered.

Yeah, we poured it on the carpark and it looked like tarmac.

    • You simpletons.

Black Beer should be used as cordial. About 2cm in the bottom of a glass and fill the rest of it with lemonade. Gorgeous stuff. Like a sweet, bubbly stout.
