      American History X.

I'm afraid I find it less impressive every time I watch it these days. The narrative is too simplistic and not very credible. A shame because it has potential.
Always nice for a good old perve though....double eye candy in Edwards Furlong and Norton. Yum.

I always got shouted down for saying I didn't like that film. It's contrived to the point of ridiculousness and I don't think I ever liked it. Plus the message it gives you is just wrong. Being bummed in prison makes you not racist anymore and all black people do actually have guns and will in fact shoot you.

    • The Mighty Boosh 3 - sadly rubbish, saved slightly by the last 2 episodes.
      Chocolat - good
and next, maybe, V for Vendetta, if I think of nowt better to do.

That's one way to interperet it i guess. Though I wouldn't think it says that any more than it says all white people have swastika tatoos and will stomp your mouth into the curb if you try to rob their house.
I think the two main themes they're trying to get accross are that:
People can see the error of their ways given the right circumstances and be rehabilitated.
And that the cycle of racial hate in America is self perpetuating and it's often those who don't deserve it who fall victim to it.
Maybe they failed to correctly convey that to you. ;)

Touch my guitars or amp and that's exactly what will happen to you, minus the tattoos.

They did. I blame Edward Norton.

    • I'm just watching the last episode of House of Saddam.
This has been done very well and is worth a watch.

I also watched Starship Troopers 2 and 3.
2 is godawful (one of the actors playing a seargent is actually a commander in the first film, yes, its that bad they had to use actors already in the series to be in it as other characters lol)
3 is better but not much. At least Casper Van Dien is in it.
They seemed to spend less and less on the CG that was the best part of the original film.
Jolene Blalock (the woman that plays the vulcan in Star Trek:Enterprise) is in it aswell for some reason and she is looking fiiiiiine.

All the American Pie films. They just turn into a tits and ass fest really. My kinda movie ;)

It's funny you should mention that because Tony Kaye wanted his name taken off the film due to some of the editing that Norton had done.

I agree with G, it's far too simplistic a message and also, given the rates of re-offending in America, incredibly implausible.

    • pierrepoint - sobering

i once got pissed and mocked derek bentley's (the "let him have it" fella who received a pardon about 40 years after being hanged by pierrepoint) niece at a dinner party. not for having a wrongly executed uncle.

but instead for her rather cavalier attitude towards an elephant named william she had adopted in ceylon with the compensation.

      truth.

    • First few episodes of season 6 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, just keeps delivering.

"Oh we thought the party was LAST night!"

      and

      "Hows your penis?"
      "Pretty good, pretty, pretty good."

have been the killers so far.

I vaguely recall hearing about Norton sticking his oar in, hence the comment. I wasn't bad mouthing Norton generally for no reason. But yeah, it's a lot shallower than people give it credit for.

    • The Duchess.

A surprisingly good film. Even Knightley didn't fuck up too badly. Very enjoyable.

    • The Dark Knight - Very good, still a bit baffled by the end though, why not blame the Joker on the deaths caused by two-face, why did batman take the fall?
    • CareyCarey
    • because batman was responsible for the joker deciding to take the course of action he did. i think.
