Interviews for ninehertz - help needed!

    • As Podge says, basically we're all old now and have other stuff going on so ninehertz hasn't really been a priority.

I haven't spoken to Pete and Carey about this yet, but if we wanted to hand over editorial control would any of you want to take it on?

While nothing is set on stone, it would be interesting to know if anyone would be willing to take it on. If so, then we've got a decision to make - if not, then status quo.

      Anyone?

    • i'd love to but I haven't got the time. Think its right that it ceased to be relevant when we stopped doing gigs together and hanging out as much. We're all still friends, its just that things move on. When it started, I was at uni with loads of time to review/comment on stuff and Pete et al had less demanding jobs/less responsibility. I haven't been on here for aaaages but neither has anyone else really.

    • Requirements for would be editor(s)...

      Essential
      1. Stoner/doom/sludge fan.
      2. Take receipt of all CDs etc sent to ninehertz. Review them and/or distribute to volunteer reviewers and ensure they are published on the site quickly.
      3. Edit all publications (spelling corrections, add pictures etc) to the site and publish them quickly.
      4. Maintain the email account.
      5. Upkeep of the forum. It manages itself largely, but dealing with breaking of rules, hacking, requests etc.
      6. Liaise with Ben for any tech issues.

      Desirable
      1. Arrange interviews (in person or email etc) done by yourself or others and articles and publish them.
      2. Arrange gigs.
      3. Promote others' gigs and tours.
      4. Manage 9hz FB, twitter etc accounts.
      5. Promotion of the site (eg posting reviews on FB).
      6. Has been on 9hz forum for some time (this may be essential, not sure).

It is time consuming, but not as much as it sounds. The point of ninehertz - from the very start (see 'About 9hz' at the top, written before the site was online) - was participation by all and that is how it has gone, and the more time put in, the more others get involved and it grows exponentially.

The pros are great - CDs arriving from around the world regularly, being the first to hear new releases by massive bands or demos from unheard of bands that blow your ears off. Speaking with people you revere in interviews. ninehertz has so much potential and an amazing group of people on the forum - and global appeal.

And you'll get access to the hidden editors forum. ;)

Ah, the happy day (March 3rd 2006?) where I blagged interviews with Pelican and Cave In by pretending to be a journo.

That's very specific date-wise to put a ? on the end of!

I had an interview with Brant Bjork line up when I went to see him at the Attic in Manchester. I walked many miles on the hottest day in the history of England to Podge's work to borrow his tape recorder. It messed with my head, as when I got there I forgot his real name and looked a fool asking the receptionist for 'Podge' ( ican't have had a mobile then).

I then got the train to Manchester, saw all my uni flat mates in the Salisbury and got very drunk. When BB turned up, with Suns of Thunder, very late, I could see him out of the pub window and couldn't pluck up the courage/was too drunk to do anything. I remember right at that moment, Jack Dickinson walked into the pub.

I've barely ever felt iller than I did that day in the heat. Great gig though.
