    • It's all Facebook now though innit. Traditional forums are all on the slide compared to a few years ago, not just this place, because 90% of people are just plumbed into Facebook and Twitter at all times wherever they are via a smartphone. The traditional "ritual" of forum visits and building a community of likeminded strangers with shared interests and community spirit is being slowly worn away in favour of reading and repeating lists and lists of dull micro statements about what *insert current social media darling here* had for lunch.

"Social" media is an illusion, Facebook is essentially millions of people spewing statements into the void in the hope of being noticed, the social aspect is actually sorely lacking.

Wow. That's a bit fucking bleak (and an overexaggerration... ish). More sleep for me please...

I hate to admit it, but I pretty much agree. FB is an amazing concept, but the groups and sense of community is severely lacking.

Agree with Ollie on 9hz, I reckon we can stil do something though as it's ours (the users) to save surely?

    • forums are still alive, The Obelisk is a good example, it's helped by having the blog active alongside it. More content brings more people

Agreed, the forums at the Obelisk are always on the go and the same at Stonerrock Lives. The Obelisk is updated daily.

Is it that the guys behind Ninehertz are just too busy now, anyone want to take over?

are you trying to organise a bloodless coup lol?
    • OllieOllie
    • Haha yeah...it's for the greater good. I'm going to organise an occupy protest to gather support!

    • i'm a bit of an expert when it comes to coups. we should jam out some ideas.

    • basically this site was run by a collective.

that collective then either moved city, bought houses, got more demanding jobs, stopped listening to stoner, hung out with different people, etc.

we all still like the idea of the site but it became too big / time consuming to keep it going at its height. plus I gather it started to become a chore instead of being fun.

I've always been one to suggest passing on the running of it to someone else but I'm not an editor or anything so it not up to me.

I'd say I'd suggest the idea again to Pete but I think I've only seen him once in the last 12 months.

The cogs grind ever more slowly. I'd be happy to do more for this site but I already write for two sites as it is.

    • I just seem to be out of the habit of actually commenting on threads. Must try harder.

Would also be happy to coordinate shizzle.

    • as he hardly seems to come on here I'll text Pete and tell him to sort something out.

    • This is the first time I've viewed this thread, so that shows the number of times I've been on 9hz this year.

Really enjoyed it when it was more active, but as said previously FB is much more interactive these days so forums cease to be populated unless they're very special affairs.

It's a bit catch 22 as a forum needs many posters to keep to interesting, and it's hard to get more people to use it when not many people post as not many people post. That sentence was better before I started to type it so I wouldn't hold much hope at me bringing life back into this forum.

Another issue with 9hz is with it being a forum that our leader set up from scratch it's not that easy to use in 2012, little things like "multi quote" would be a welcome addition, but it would no doubt be too much time to add stuff like this, especially as very few people will benefit from it.

I've not been very much into the music scene for many months now, I've barely been to any gigs either for well over a year, as said above, once again, people have got older, grown up, moved on, bands have split up and there's very few gigs that attract my interest now, especially up this part of England. Would love to get to more gigs, like in the good old days, work doesn't make things easy either.

I don't like being old and grown up, it's shit.

    • eggy, come to notts on friday and see boulty's band. good shit still happens
    • EggyEggy
    • I'm always working friday nights these days so I can't make it back in time. Can't start any later than 11, so not like the good old days when I used to roll up for work at 12.30.

If there's any gigs on a saturday I stand a chance of making them, but most i see are usually on a friday - or a sunday which i also work every week.

Had monday tuesday off this week, almost went to see Football, etc last night as i saw Boulty was attending (not seen him for yonks), didn't make it in the end though.

    • I spoke to Ben about this the other day, he's still happy to maintain the site.

I also spoke to Pete but not about the site, that kind of got side tracked due to other more important stuff.
