Misguided thoughts on metal

    • I love DnB and hip-hop as musch as Metal so all i ever get is the already mentioned views of metal or have i listened to the latest Ministry of Sound or Hed Kandi CD...

Working in a 99% all male warehouse, music discussions normally boil down to who would most likely get 'poked' first.

      Balls, read it again.

i've read it again and i stick by my first comment.

just because you don't like it doesn't mean its shit or rubbish.

your whole pantera comment just goes to prove what crap you talk

Linda likes some truly awful stuff, Ting Tings, Hot Hot Heat (which I can tolerate), White Stripes, The Fratellis etc, she doesn't really play music at home though so its all good.

Oh her latest obsession is the Sweeny Todd OST, she plays that on her ipod around the house and sings out of tune its well funny.

I'm in love with the girl from the Ting Tings

Lots of folk say that about Modern Art, & in many cases it is. Metaphorically & physically.

lots of people also think that "modern art" is just turner prize stuff and have no idea about the hundreds of thousands of other new art stuff thats out there.

art is not a competition to see who can replicate a photograph the closest

      Oh don't....

I find this one so difficult to resist!

    • The worst is when someone at work find out you are in a band and asks you what you sound like. I always say 'you probably wont have heard of the bands we sound like' and they ALWAYS go 'nooo. go on, try me'. So I do and they havent heard of any of the bands or think im making them up. I just say across between Metallica and Coldplay now.

The Pantera comment was a joke.

My opinion is that those bands I mentioned are awful, if other people like them, thats ok by me, I don't go on at Linda for liking the Fratellis for example, or Kirsty for liking ska for example but I don't like them, thats all.

That's true in every sense. Modern art is just an easily used generalised term. I know artist's, their stuff is good & not at all photo replication.

These for the somehow accepted thought amongst those who listen to/play metal or heavy music that they are "the masters".

Nothing worse than being trapped in a Metallica conversation although I haven't been for a long time, people probably know not to as I always bring it up when they are mentioned.

    • The thing that puts me of metallica most are them as people. That & its too samey.
    • noonenoone
    • it only bothers me when they talk about anything after '..and Justice 'LP which is all , quite frankly , tripe and the end of Metallica.
      Enter Sandman , Exit Metallica.

    • People at work used to ask me about music when I brought guitars into work when I had a gig afterwards. So I just brought in cd's for people. They stopped asking after that. Apart from one quiet girl who turned out to be a massive maiden fan and asked for more stuff.

Last weekend, Jayne's brother came to rock city with us and brought his mate along for support. We asked him to play air guitar. It was more like he was playing an air banjo.

      What about Pantera?

      Those solos!

      The lyrics!

      The cutting edge artwork!

      The vocals!

The whole COWBOYS FROM HELL!!1!! thing!

      The double kick sound!

      GUITARS!

My workmate used to call them pant wearer. He doesn't like shouty/screamy metal, favourite band RHCP, also likes coldplay, foo fighters, etc. Plays drums in a very good covers band though, infact i'll probably be seeing them tomorrow night.

I'm wearing a metallica t-shirt as i read this, bought from reading '97 so it's seen better days. I used to love metallica - also i've still not heard that much stuff prior to the "black" album. These days i have very little interest in metallica, i've got sick of hearing the same old songs in pubs/clubs, and st anger put me right off them. Occasionally i'll give a cd a spin but very rarely, i think the last one i listened to was 'load'.

Eggy, put the black album and Load in the bin and get down with Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and And Justice For All. Confirmed!

    • I have two of the earlier albums on tape somewhere, i've had them for years but never got around to buying the CD's, now my interest in metallica has pretty much dried up.

S&M isn't a bad album. As for Garage Inc, i only seem to listen to whiskey in the jar-o and turn the page. i doubt i've ever listened to the second cd fully in all the time i've had it.

...hmm, just had to look at my mp3's as i'd forgotten the name of the latter song i like off garage and turns out i have master of puppets and justice.. on mp3 format :O completely forgot i had them, i can now vaguely remember downloading them last year.

Oh yeah knew there was something else...re-load, glad i never bought that. Another wank effort from metallica.
