    • That Legacy gig was during Euro 2000 - I remember going home and watching some crap Turkey vs Denmark game instead of rocking Bath.

I reckon the worst gig I've been involved with was the one Peace did up in Kingston at a trendy wine bar on a Sunday afternoon (at the same time when England were playing their first world cup group game) with a band who were desparate to make it and their guitarist in particular irritated everyone. After slogging through tonnes of traffic jams, London flavoured crap traffic systems from hell and watching one of those 2 hour total ego massaging style soundchecks from the other band already mentioned we ended up playing to the barman and the PA guy only (even the two other bands didn't hang around) and on the way home the tension got too much and I threatened to throw everyone out of the car at Andover because they were throwing maltesers about. It was very VERY quiet for the rest of the 40-odd miles home. As you'd expect the actual gig PERFORMANCE from Peace was amazing as always, it was just the rest of the day was a complete bag of sweaty arse.

I also remember Battlewitch playing in a village hall in the middle of nowhere in darkness because the organiser couldn't find the lightswitches. :) We got "paid" one can of Fosters each.

I would like to point out that I was not throwing any maltesers as I could see Kev's face going red

Kev! I think this may have been the point where you started to get your 'rages'. Pre this incident you would have never threatened to drive to Wessex water HQ and sort them out. :D

What's the worst gigs everyone's done?

In Witchsorrow, last year when we played in Reading with Spearhead, Aluna and Scythian. The promoter didn;t turn up with the drums til gone 8pm, meaning everyone assumed there was a late license, which there wasn't. Spearhead got to play a whole 4 songs before the plug got pulled.

There was water coming out of the ceiling onto the stage. I kept getting shocks off the mic. The PA kept feeding back. The stage was the size of a postage stamp, with an angled ceiling on one side and a bannister running around the edge. The drumkit kept edging away from Morrell as well, he had to keep stopping to right the various wrongs with it.

I got very much eletrocuted that night every time I sung - straight through my lip piercing into my mouth - well off putting!!

      Indeed...

Best mfkzt gig... one andy didn't make in the scout hut... ha ha!

Oh Jesus. That was a great day, but it just said so much about Andy that he forgot we were playing and spent the night somewhere other than home, without his telephone.

That gig, some fucking bellend knocked my guitar on the floor, and it's never been the same since. I was furious about that.

And, in hindsight, it was a mistake to get Rob to play bass, haha. Songs he didn't even know, lolz.

    • Like Nick said....Witchsorrow in Reading is probably the worst gig I've ever done.
Also Koresh at the Archway Tavern was pretty terrible and Koresh at Road to Ruin which was the best and worst gig ever. Anyone that was there will know why.

    • Was that the gig where Koresh did Enter Sandman?

That reading Witchsorrow gig really did take the piss. I just remember Spearhead standing onstage, and their guitarist trying to avoid getting soaked, wearing a really bitter smile and telling the promoter "This place is a shithole!" and him going "You guys are AWESOME!"

It was good, but it was also shameful. Made me feel dirty. Not in a nice way either.

I still reckon only about 30 people in the world heard those songs.

    • That makes us total kvlt for covering it.

    • it was played and performed competantly by all concerned but i didn't really feel it for some reason...

it was a bit high school musical i thought.

    • Our worst gig was at the frontline in Belgium with some horrible hardcore bands. I started fighting with some Nazi pricks in the crowd while we were on and then kicked off even more afterwards. Duvel makes you insane!!

Yeah one of the most pointless gigs ever, here, play for about 15-20 minutes, wheres the drums? Ah they are in the locked basement, wheres the key? Oh erm, duno....

Broken string, new songs sounding ropey, nobody we knew there, those we knew heckling then realising it was an awful gig.

      Yeah, crap.

Even the empty tour dates are more fun than that.

That's the one. Even more galling for the fact there was a roomful of people who probably would have liked us if we hadn't been so shit.
