Forgot to get advance tickets - I take it it hasn't sold out??

I bought a ticket from ticketweb about 2 hours since. I am going tomorrow, no backing out of that gig (like i have for the blunderbuss one tonight).

Mine cost £13.44 inc fees and all that bollocks.

I'd just turn up when doors open Pete, no worries.

    • Awesome gig - Best i've seen Isis in a long time. And they played Hive destruction!!!!

    • Yeaah!

      This was ace!

Hive Destruction was a total winner!

    • Think thats the best I've seen them, and that was the 6th time!

    • I also think that's about the best i've seen them. 2nd best gig could have been when they played with Jesu at rock city, but i knew very few tracks then.

There were about 3 tracks i didn't recognise, i've since found out one of them is of ..Absence... Hive Destruction was another as i haven't got to know the early stuff yet. In fact i need to look to see what recording it's from. [suddenly realises it must be from Mosquito control].

Torche were much better live than on cd too.

    • How were Torche as a 3-piece for anyone who'd seen them before with the second guitarist?

I'm hoping that I'll be able to catch half an hour or so of Isis tonight before heading downstairs for The Hold Steady.

    • to be honest i think for me that was the best I've ver seen Torche but that might just have been because i could actually see them and not just the back of some one's head, bloody good regardless though

    • Really?! I thought Torche were really underwhelming... And I absolutely love them on record and was really looking forward to them. Didn't like the sound they had at all.

ISIS were unbelievable. Totally blew me away. Stunning.

    • Great show! Wish isis played a bit longer though. ITAOT sounds great on vinyl.

    • I thought Torche were great, and didn't suffer from losing a member, but agree the sound wasn't brilliant for them. Isis were okay only for me, but saying that I've never been that into them, although saying that saying that, I've seen them better on at least two occasions.

    • Its a definite 'where you are standing' thing. I thought Torche sounded bloody ace where I was halfway back. All round bloody good show though.

    • I thought torche's sound got better as they went on. By the time they were finishing the sound was spot on where I was!

Good work with this by the way Slomo!

    • Anyone fancy writing a review of the gig for 9hz?

    • To add yet another opinion on Torche, I thought the sound was good but in places the lack of the second guitarist was very telling. Healer sounded rubbish with only one guitar, and they lost some of the churning power from the bomb string stuff.
They still managed to sound bigger than Isis, though, which was some feat.

    • Torche were hands down winners of the two gigs I went to last night. I thought they were amazing. For the most part I thought they sounded better than when I saw them as a 4 piece with Pelican, although I do agree with Si re Healer.

    • Torche sounded immense with one guitarist so it's hard to imagine what they'd be like with 2. I was stood just in front of the sound desk and i couldn't fault the sound (not that i have a trained ear mind). In fact the only other time i recall hearing a band that loud in corp was when Cave In played.

I shall listen to their album again now i've seen them live as i may just get into it better. It'd probably help if i turn up the volume, and read the lyrics to get the words they don't sing out of my head.

    • Torche with both guitarists in the small room at Corp is the loudest, most visceral musical experience of my life thus far.
It's quite a yardstick to measure up to, but, like I say, they did well on Sunday.
