    • 1993 - un-named school band - I played guitar (even though I couldn't). Me & bass player Chris wanted to play like Black Flag or Mudhoney, the others liked RHCP & Mr. Big. Destined to failure

1994 - un-named home recordings. As well as being a punk/HC fanatic I liked Throbbing Gristle, Einsturzende Neubauten & assorted ambient stuff. My approximation of this was some attempted tape loops, radio snippets, rudimentary guitar playing, bashing ice cream boxes etc. I had a tape recorder that I could do overdubs on (all though each successive layer deteriorated it a bit). Despite being cack, I wish I still had this tape!

1995-6 - The Mondos - my first 'proper' band, ie we did some gigs & a practice room demo. Chris from the first band was in this. We sounded like a cross between Sham 69 & early Germs. Our final gig ended in a shower of broken glass & mild bloodshed. I sang.

1996 - Savage Malignant - never a proper member of this then infamous garage punk duo but did a couple of gigs with them - one supporting Ligament (pre-Part Chimp) & one supporting, believe it or not, Bikini Kill, Bis & Team Dresch at the Garage!

1996 - The Paralytics - very noisy, sloppy HC. Only lasted a couple of practices (I 'played' guitar & sang, depending on the mood - we had a fairly fluid line-up). Last practiced collapsed in a drug-fuelled miasma. I do have a practice tape somewhere, hidden from the public. The band would evolve into my next band...

1996-2002 - Fett. First band I recorded with & first time I played drums. First gig was on my 18th birthday, which ended with glassings & a machete attack. We played a few gigs, did 2 demos (one of which I've lost) & a split 7" (recorded at the legendary & sadly missed Pathway Studios, where The Damned recorded their first 7"). The band faded away & constantly changed our sound - by the time we played our last gig (at the Shake Some Action fairwell thing) we sounded like Melvins meets Neu! - apparently.

1997 - Jock Gestapo - Los Crudos/Born Against/power violence type band. Only lasted a few practices (& another lost demo) but we were quite good so it's sad we never played, though I was in many half-existing bands like this at the time in Croydon. Also featured Neil from Fett & a young Daniel O'Sullivan, who would go on to bigger (& better) things in Guapo, Miasma, SUNNO)))) etc.

1998 - This Is Not A Photograph - another semi band made up of various people from other Croydon bands. This was very Mission Of Burma influended. Had a few OK songs (& more lost recordings) but nothing much happened.

2000-2001 - The Morons. Pop-punk. Played lots of gigs & did a couple of demos. Thet continue without me to this day.

2001-2002 - Perfect Human Example - short-lived band with Tim. Played 2 odd gigs at The Swan (including one with Born Dead Icons - or was it From Ashes Rise?) & recorded a demo, which I thought sounded a bit like Chrome.

Castle Greyskull - 2002-2003 - HC band like Rites Of Spring meets Poison Idea, or something. Assorted ex-Morons in the band. Played a few gigs, wrote a fair number of songs, recorded a decent demo... then split up. Variations of this band crop up over the next few years (Wives Of Seth, Shackle Me Not, Ray Reardon Youth, Spectra Hawk), all of whom tend to play a few gigs, record something... then split up,

Wives Of Seth - 2003 - stood in for drummer Mike who couldn't make some gigs (including one with Melt Banana). All the gigs ended up being cancelled so I never did anything with them outside the rehearsal room.

Among The Missing - 2003-2007 - my most 'successful' band.

Forces Sweetheart - 2006 - Pagans/Dead Boys/KBD/Bloodstains etc. influenced punk with Tom (Greyskull, Wives Of Seth etc.), Jamie (Shank, Process, King Generator etc) & Simon (Soon The Darkness). Spent more time drinking than practicing, but this might crop up again in the form of a 7" some day

Savage Jackboot - 2007 - Very short lived band with Donny, Karl (Tribute, Castle Greyskull etc) & Mad John (Deathskulls). Sort of fizzled out but was intensely sexy whileit lasted (too sexy, perhaps).

Hygiene - 2008 - basic punk with jangly, trebly guitars. One demo recorded & a 7" imminent.

I think this is all. Oh yeah, around 2002 I did some stuff in my bedroom with bass, tape loops etc but that doesn't really count (2 copies of the tape exist, I think).

    • been a long road but:

martyrdom - death metal band formed when 16 after years trying to get somethng heavy together. sounded like a cross between death, at the gates, cannibal corpse and really bad cynic

aeon tide - stoner rock in the vein of kyuss, corrosion of conformity and fu manchu. played a gig with rock bitch - ha ha!

winner - band i joined in sheffield. bit rubbish grunge meets deftones. didn't gig with them but played on recording

ward 28 - weird indie band we formed under the guidance of guitarists brother. kinda early radiohead meets later faith no more and a beatles inluence.

the four horsemen - metallica tribute for two gigs under the request of local rock club the tache's manager

deadmansfingers - noisecore kinda like converge and cave in with neurosis and isis influences. best gig was supporting tragedy at the 1 in 12, then we split up the day after

the red hour - short lived noisecore/grind two piece that never amounted to much

high john the conqueror - noisy hardcore/grind in the vein of botch and burnt by the sun that couldn't find a reliable singer or drummer. gave up and formed...

the pink mummies - sludge/doom/improv two piece formed as a joke so we could piss people off. never practiced and was only supposed to be a one off but decided to ressurrect it 6 months later. played in pink t-shirts and wrapped up in bandages

von kempelin - good solid heavy metal band with an awful singer (i mean really awful!) signed to revolver but album was never released and split up cos most of us thought it was shit!

higher council of mars - after a pink mummies demo written and recorded in three days we decided to stop titting about and get more serious. found a bassist after second demo and after he disappeared hired another bassist and a singer. recorded full length album produced and mastered by pupilar (our kevin) had endless bassist problems untl our original bassist ben reappeared the asked kevin to join full time. just toured with khuda :D

so far had a 14 year career that's never made me a single penny but been a lot of fun. far out!

    • can we have a few more band per minute counts. i need to assert myself as the raggedy-rectummed over-whore i suspect i may be.

      formula is as follows:

(number of bands you've been in) = n

(this year) - (year you started your first band) = y

      y x 525600 (band minutes) = b

      n / b = bands per minute (bpm)

set roland drum machine to (bpm) bpm to have it represented in drum.

    • Not a lot for me...

A band with no name - just practised in the drummers living room when I was about 14

Immortal when I was 15 which were a Life of Agony covers band - great choons, shite name!! I played bass with them... the drummer sang with a wire coat hanger around his neck which held the mic

Acid Queen when I was 16 - about 18 ish (before I heard the name Acid King - I emailed Lori to check it was ok to use when I found out LOL!!), basically a two piece acoustic stoner band (Dave and I)... one song has been given the Aluna treatment ("Halo") on the Nasoni vinyl!!

      And... currently Aluna

    • DKH- Me and Fred from Flatlands playing some of the best Napalm Death-inspired bedroom metal ever with our Queen-loving mate Dan and a drummer who has since lost his mind, Si has mp3s I think, we made tapes and got in trouble at school. Less said about the song titles the better.

Funereal- Band that I dreamt up and wrote loads of lyrics and did a website for that never happened with Fred and a few mates, ended up being a boozey weekend of shaving the aforementioned mental drummers head when we attempted a practice.

Throne- We had a few "marks" of Throne, Mk1 was Me, Fred, Marc and Edd, Edd liked Dream Theater, Edd liked solos, Edd did not like Isis or Iron Monkey, which was a shame as we all did and went all heavy on him, so he left, nice chap though! We then went on to Throne Mk2, where Adam joined and we sounded very very sludgey for a long time, then kinda got into doing slower, more varied songs and became Mk 3, where we recorded that 2004 demo in the DVD case then promptly fell apart due to Marc leaving and Fred going to live in Spain for a bit.

Flatlands- You all know us now surely, yeah, 2005- present, one demo, one 12" split, one EP and an album and maybe more vinyl comign out next year, loads of gigs, the best band we've ever done. Just realised, all the bands I've ever done have been with Fred!

Side bobbins- I've been in Krashenbern alot and love it, I've done one solo gig that went ok, but needed to practice more, did a few gigs (and the worst one I've EVER done in Lincoln or anywhere) with Wakey and Castor Tom as Yacht Club and I'm sure I must have done some other bobbins. I currently have a band with Wakey where I'm attempting to play drums while he jams out Eyehategod riffs, its sounding evil and limited (like my drumming)

    • It's a slow-going project at present, but my mate and I have formed a hair metal band in which he plays guitar and I sing. We're called Ratt Poison. Need to get together and write some songs sometime.... our main influence is Nitro, but my mate has started getting into bands like Danger Danger, Warrant, Britny Fox, White Lion, 80s Kiss, Cinderella etc.... so we're broadening our influences.
