I'm glad they are splitting to be honest, when they played up here with Lair Of The Minotaur it was the most boring gig ever after sunny republic and brenda finished, Capricorns aren't even the same band it was the american chap with a load of mates and even the old stuff sounded weak, they were awesome a few years ago, that first EP and the album were incredible but its good to see the end, as far as I'm concerned it died when Dean left.

They didn't do it for me live, but I liked the EP - a bit.

      Something like that.

Remember that Trans Am gig I went to with Pete and Bradley? I wanted to go home with you and your housemate because I was so terrified of what P + B would get up to in the state they were in.

    • I remember giving you a wedgie at the Sepultura Underworld gig, you trying to kiss me on the tube, then getting into mischief at a cockrock night at Gossips. It was a gay old time.

    • i went to this. it was pretty good i thought. i don't think i would have paid to see them as i'm not hugely into anything that could be described in any way "epic".

drummer was shit hot and about 50% of the riffs made me pop boners. unfortunately, it lacks intensity/invention.

anyway, beer - quite cheap, company - very enjoyable, toilets - fucking revolting.

    • Yeah it didnt blow me away. Its a real shame because Ive never been a huge fan but Ive bought the records and seem em live 100s of times and sometimes they have been amazing!!
I'll cut em some slack because half the band only had a week from what I understand to learn the songs.........and certainly didnt need the stinkbombs being let off, amp problems and water dripping from the ceiling (I love the crobar). But I did speak to loads of people who loved it.
But all in all was a good night, nice to see ya Rich, Im still cracking up about your mugging deterrent techniques. Im very hungover today.
I think roadburn is definately their last gig so will probably be worth a look in for that alone.

it was fun...you noticed the dripping ceiling too? fucking hell man...that place is hilarious. always a pleasure, never a chore to be maxxing with the koresh chaps. looking forwards to subsequent outings.

well, i've never been mugged, so my techniques must work.

i was just about to post this.

They lost their drummer, then thier bassist. not a good thing for band like them to lose their rythmn section completely. for the lair of the minotaur gig I'd dragged a few friends out to see them and was quite frankly embarassed to have done so. they'd removed all of the power behind the music and replaced it with a 'punkyness'.

      still love the ep's though.

And another guitarist...Kev is the only original member!

wouldn't work for you anyway...no one wants to mug a man who's crying and screaming "not again mummy...noooooo!"

Overpriced, up it's own arse, trendy, way too packed, arsey bouncers, rubbish toilets, expensive drinks, in London... but alright by me because it had Clutch on the jukebox and cocktails named after Kyuss songs when I went - Linda bought me a Demon Cleaner which was amazing.

I like the Crobar personally, go there every now and then. The toilets are awful and the whole place is a nightmare to move around in when it's jammed but the jukebox is quality [if expensive]. Only bottled/canned beer which isn't great but it's alright otherwise, overpriced yes but this is London after all.

How is it up its own arse or trendy though? I don't get this. Compared to some rock pubs I've been in it's pretty friendly and welcoming. Don't get the 'trendy' thing at all.

Now if you were making these comments about the new Intrepid Fox, on the other hand... that is somewhere I don't like to go and seems to try too hard, plus I know no one in there anyway.

      i dig that, man.

      that's my standby.

    • Crobar is dogshit.

Intrepid Fox I can deal with as I like classic rock.

The problem with most of the pubs is they are full of 'I am fucking awesome and my band only plays london so we must be incredible' twats.

Give me the Cutlers Arms at Gleadless anytime.
    • slomoslomo
    • p.s - Ive tried being mugged twice. Both times I beat the fuck out of them, then took everything of value of them and sold it the following day. Thats street justice in my eyes.

Kinda like pokemon but with proper fighting.

    • I've never been mugged and I'm amazed I haven't to be honest, the amount of time I'm out with wallet, phone, ipod and a drink-imposed sense of who cares attitude must make me a prime target and I'd probably just hand them all over.
