Flatlands + Higher Council of Mars + Khuda on Monday

      FLATLANDS
We'll be playing two gigs until the end of the year, so come down and see us. We're hoping to be playing two different sets, one will be old songs (really old if we can remember them) and present stuff, the other will be present stuff and brand new stuff, we haven't decided which one will be at which gig yet so it'll be a surprise for everyone.

      HIGHER COUNCIL OF MARS
This Blackpool-based band have just expanded their lineup with electronics man Kevin, also known as Pupilar who played on his own with us last time we played the Grapes so this should sound MASSIVE, they play traditional and heavy doom-esque arrangements that should shake the Red House to its core.

      KHUDA
This two-piece are coming to us on tour with HCoM but are on their 50th gig apparently with this one, they play a combination of post-rock and metal with interesting flourishes of jazz and experi-metal, they are also releasing their debut EP this week so it should be a Sheffield launch for it on Monday, Leeds launch gig is Thursday.

      Monday 27th October
A credit-crunch busting £3!!! on the door, no excuses surely...
      First band around 8.30pm
The Red House, Solly Street, Sheffield.

but why the hell not again :D ...and just in case you can't read it:

bolton, dog and partridge w/ simple peter and beards
edinburgh, henry's cellar bar w/ hitcher and gas giant
      lincoln, turks head
sheffield, the red house w/ flatlands
blackpool, the blue room w/ green bastard
leeds, royal park cellars w/ flatlands

i also believe tangaroa are appearing on the same night of one of these too but can't remember which one. should be a massive doss either way!

this is indeed out 50th gig!

    • I wanted to do something special for Flatlands 50th gig, but then I realised I'd miscounted and we'd already done it without realising. I wanted a cake and everything, I'd never been in a band that had done half that before.
    • CareyCarey
    • have a belated celebration, it's worth doing! i must have seen you guys more than any other band ever...
    • mikemike
    • Haha so true! You must have been at 99% of our Sheffield gigs, I'll do a dedication Monday.

blackpool with green bastard (awesome kyuss-esque stoner rock with a love of psyche freak out noise sections from kendle)

    • Poor Carey. She is clearly destined for a gender reconfiguration this week.

Also, I have blatantly seen Flatlands more times than anyone in the world, even the baby now. Blatantly.

bit drastic. if you'd seen my life as a bloke recently you'd have to reconsider ;)

can't wait to see flatlands myself. kev has been bigging them up for months and their album is often on heavy rotation. i should be ashamed that i'm a flatlands live virgin :D

    • Don't get too excited, they're shite.

I just go and see them out of pity.
    • PetePete
    • i've seen them 30 times, and throne 6 times. i have a list.

      you are a nerd
    • CareyCarey
    • i think pete and jen both beat me in the flatlands live stakes.

i'm secure in my femininity and not often offended. does carey really sound like a boy's name though?
    • GarethGareth
    • Sounds a bit like Corey.

It is, by my counting, my 73rd gig with the band.
