Last.fm

    • Listening to my library at work, how ace is last.fm?
No idea why it's taken me so long to sort it out, despite signing up yonks ago
    • EggyEggy
    • it's not too bad is it.
    • mambamamba
    • I've just got last.fm radio working on my mobile which is ace. Saves taking my ipod on the rare occasions I go on the train. It eats up the battery in a big way though.

For some reason my ipod has stopped scrobbling which is annoying me a bit at the moment. So much so, that I reinstalled itunes and the last.fm app last night at the suggestion of someone on the last.fm forum. Doesn't seem to have worked though.

    • What phone you got? That sounds amazing
    • mambamamba
    • Nokia N95 8GB. I think that (or any other Nokia S60 phones) and the iphone are about the only phone there's an app for.

It's called mobbler if you happen to have one of those.

Not sure how much data transfer is involved as mine's all inclusive on my contract, so probably best to check how much it will set you back.

    • i used it for about a month then got bored of it suggesting music i already owned

    • I like music. I like stats. I therefore like last.fm.

      Yes, I am a geek.

    • I've only just started using it and I'm not entirely pleased with it. True , it has recommended lots of new bands for me but it has also played me a lot of complete shit and doesnt seem to learn that I don't like it when I immediately ban the track.
For example, I like listening to the Cramps but I do NOT want to listen to fucking Stray Cats or Nekromantix.
Another annoyance is as soon as I tag some tracks as 'loved' it suddenly becomes a 28 second sample only and they try and encourage me to buy the track . FUCK OFF!
    • HopkinsHopkins
    • I'm not bothered about the suggestions and recommendations, I just like the library access, and also the stats cus i'm a geek at heart
    • CareyCarey
    • yeah, i love the stats and i'm not overly bothered by the recommendations (although i have occasionally heard some interesting stuff). it has got more commercial since the whole buy-out thing - that i can't remember the details of - which is a shame, but the total CLEVERNESS of it still freaks me out at times. like living in the future. the more you use it the better it gets.

    • This didn't suprise me at all

Your musical compatibility with mambarock is High
    • mambamamba
    • I just looked at that too. No surprises there, although I have higher 'compatibility' with Donny, Carey and Pete.

I'm like that too. I rarely listen to music on last fm, but it does help with working out what albums to buy next etc.

yeah, i think mine are "very high" for you and "super" for pete. no ninehertzers in my neighbours, which has always surprised me a little.

    • neighbours?

      edit.
didnt know about this function nor did I notice all my friend requests haha
I also noticed a 'neighbour' listening to songs by my band. How the hell did our songs get on last.fm? and why would anybody listen to them?
      This is freaking scary.

    • My scrobble is broken. Still saying the last thing I listened to was Spinal Tap.

    • bloody last.fm , it's like a teenager who's parents have gone away.
I leave the room for 10 mins to get a shower and I come back to hear Guns n Roses - November Rain ( full version ) blasting out an an unholy volume.
      How embarrassing.
Well, you obviously can't be trusted to behave whilst I'm not here and if your going to behave like a child we are going to treat you like one.
