Rotherham FC???

    • Kev Hit DrumKev Hit Drum
    • Anyone up that neck of the woods know what's going on at Rotherham? I hear on the grapevine they may be going out of business or something. While this is very very bad for football, it lightens the load of Luton's minus 30 points escapology act starting a week on Saturday.

      Are they going kaput???

    • I'm not fully in the loop, stuff keeps changing, but as I understand it, that ballbag Boothy who owns Millmoor has essentially cranked the rent of the ground so much so that Rotherham can't afford to play there anymore. The council has been talking about building a half decent ground and letting Rotherham use it for nowt, but that's years away. In the meantime I believe they're playing at Don Valley Stadium... to be honest though, I don't really care about football, this is just what I hear on the grapevine, don't take it as gospel

    • Rotherham intend on staying at don valley for 5 years until the community stadium is built in rotherham, trouble is that the footy league say clubs are only allowed out of town for a maximum of 4 years and need to show their intentions.

Also rotherham need to let the football league know that they intend to play their games at don valley as the league need to confirm that the stadium is suitable for league football - rotherham don't seem to have done this - they say they have wrote to the football league about it but they say they haven't received anything. Two weeks before the start of the season they really should have sorted stuff out by now surely. The FL say if they don't provide the requireed information in time they wont be able to play their games.

The new chairman either really knows what he's doing, or he's not altogether there. My dad keeps mentioning how they are supposed to be in administration but yet they keep signing players - didn't think they were alllowed to do that. They are going to get docked points this season, it's as though they've just expected that, so couldn't give a monkeys about more point deductions.

It all seems a bit of a mess that's for sure.

    • Yeah, big mess. I also heard recently that the pitch at DVS ain't owt like good enough for a league game.... shady days for Rotherham FC
    • EggyEggy
    • They've recently put 50 tonnes of sand on it to improve it as they've been playing rugby on it during the summer.

DVS holds 25,000 (50k for concerts as they use the pitch). Rotherham's attendances are around 4k. They have said that all the fans are going to be in one side of the ground (the side that has some cover) so they're going to be playing games with 3 sides of the ground empty, plus with the athletics track the fans are going to be a fair way from the pitch.

    • It is ridiculous they are playing in their enemies back yard, in a stadium that isn't any good for football and is way too big for them. However, rather that than let schiester Ken Booth have his way. A couple of the reasons they are in this mess are: Lack of fan support, imcompetant managements (starting back with that Brown fellow that ruined Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team, and put tonnes of pressure on Chesterfield and Rotherham, before being banged up) and Ken Booth's insistnence on charging a rate for using the Millmoor ground that would probably be comparable to Championship, or even lowly Premier League rates!

That said, they are slowly but surely regaining their financial composure and might be pushing for a playoff place even with their impending 15 point deduction.

      COME ON ROV'RUM!

It's from when McNutlick goes round to her place and she wakes up and comes to the door. All hair-down nips-erect etc. Then goes and gets it on with her female 'life partner'. She's a fox.

    • We are still suffering today from what this man http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1275000/images/_1278831_darren_brown300.jpg

      did to us.

We were one of the first clubs that had to go into administration though so luckily we didn't have all the shit that clubs have today regarding points deductions and that, we had some point deducted but as we'd signed a load of players we could afford to buy we still got promoted.

Never trust a man from rotherham. ;)

    • Things must be bad if Chesterfield are signing players from us - Darren Currie is one of the laziest players I've ever seen (although he did score our goal of the season last term) and they've got a defender of ours (Alan Goodall) on trial - he played for them last night. He's also poor... :argh:

I hope Rotherham get out of the troubles and stay up along with us and Bournemouth and also hope that two of Dagenham, Accrington and Barnet go down following various comments from their managers, chairmen etc, etc. Gits.
    • EggyEggy
    • both ex luton players looked good enough last night, Goodall looked better than our own left back (who we signed from rotherham of all clubs). Don't expect currie to run and run, like jack lester, he's experienced, not as fit as he used to be so doesn't try if he knows he isn't going to get there.

Considering last season we had to player strikers on the left as we had no left midfielder/winger he can only be an improvement. Getting 3 good years out of currie may be pushing it slightly but it was the only way we were going to sign someone of his qualities.

Is he lazier than paul warhurst - we had him a few years since as he was extremely disappointing.

Yeah, but with Boston it was only a matter of time, since the club had been run by crooks for the better part of 50 years. I have no idea what league they've been demoted to, but I want to go to a home game and experience a genuine 2 men and a dog moment. Plus the ground is ridiculously big, even by Conference standards. Laughs ahoy.
    • the chapthe chap
    • i hoping they get relegated, so we can get back into the league where we belong!

    • Mansfield... bah! I went up there a few years back, they panned Luton 4-1, it pissed down the whole game, I missed our goal and my car broke down on the way home. Good times... Er...

Re: Darren Currie - There's no doubt he is excellent with a dead ball, if you've got any half decent headers of the ball he will set up chances (Luton didn't last year) but don't expect a lot of effort tackling back or anything. He's got the "walking through treacle" style of running.

To be fair to Goodall, his confidence was shot after 20 games as he had a mare at the start and the usual dumbass fans got on his back anytime he got near a football pitch after that. The Rochdale fans thought he was great so there you go.

One thing is for certain, I expect them both to score against us :(

well given that Robertson (our usual left back) got booed before he'd even kicked a ball when we played hull in a friendly last week there isn't much hope for Goodall. Our fans are the main reason that Barry Roche quit us for Morecambe this summer, the stick he got at rotherham last season was horrific.

They dropped down two leagues at the start of last season and have been demoted two more leagues at the end of this season for failing to get out of there CVA agreement which was pretty harsh as they were paying it off. Bostons ground is great and i love going there but its half the reason why they are in such a mess, its properly old school with no way of creating outside income.

Theyve dropped down to the same level we are at but in the northern section.

This season should be fun for us. Our average attendance last season was 908, the leagues overall average last season was 166! Malvern Town averaged 64 as their home attendance, for this season so far weve sold nearly 200 season tickets.
