    • ...baronness. passed me by until yesterday where i listened to a bit of the blue album on the tube.

really liked it and looking for more - any recommendations?

    • Basically go back (Red) for heavier, forward (Green and Yellow) for not so heavy.

    • I'd say Blue is their weakest release- still not bad, mind.
The first and second EPs are less complex and share more common ground with the likes of Kylesa.
Each subsequent release has become more intricate and varied but to these ears Blue didn't grab me like Red and Yellow/Green.

    • Cool, thanks - red, yellow and green seems to be the general consensus!

i'll give those a punt. it's weird because the name has been bashed about on here for years but i've never checked them out, til now and it's exciting to find a "new" band!

    • Everything they do seems to divide opinion. I love Blue, like what I've heard from Red, but can't stand one of the discs from Green and Yellow.

    • I think you have to start at the begining! First and Second are still great alot more aggressive than the later stuff which is why i prefer it!

    • Whereas I think they've got better with every release.

Wasn't bothered by First and Second, so didn't check out Red for ages but is ok. Quite liked Blue and love Yellow / Green.

      So there you go.

    • right. there's the consensus well and truly blown out the water. :P

looks like spotify may be the answer to see what i dig!

    • First and Second are my faves, but even then I don't listen to them that much. Always better live than on record for me. Red has a good song or two, haven't heard Blue, couldn't stand Yellow/Green (although respect the progression).

    • Red is my favourite my a mile. I heard Second first, and that was a bit of a grower, but got to really like it until Red took over it's mantle. I like Blue but not as much and Red, and while I haven't bought Yellow/Green I do like some tracks, mostly on Yellow. Green sounds like they are mainly fillers from what I can remember. The stuff from Yellow/Green did sound good live though tbf.

    • Loved Red, wasn't plussed by Blue, Yellow & Green are definite curveballs, but fantastic innovation from a band of that nature.

A John Dyer Baizeley screenprint (the full piece that makes up the cover of Kylesa's Static Tensions cover be precise) sits pride of place in a frame at the top of my stairs!

    • Saw them live with Kylesa years ago, wasn't too fussed and their records did nothing for me.

I saw them either supporting Kylesa or Pelican too and liked it alright but not enough to inspire me to listen to them further. Pretty sure they're in Spotify so I may have to give them a listen.

    • First and Second blew me away, ever since it's been a bit less impressive for me but they are still amazing.

    • Listen to them all at the same time and call it Brown

    • I think I've given Red, Blue, Yellow and Green a brief listen on Spotify (I had a binge when I first signed up but got bored) but not given any of it a lot of attention.
