     My mate works for the BBC and he reckons it's was done on purpose after the whole RATM power to the people business. He reckons there's no chance it'll get cut and it's a bit of a marketing ploy to get it in the news with all the campaigning and wotnot.

     I'm inclined to agree, although it should have been marketed properly in the first place.
     
     They've already cut Bruce Dickinson's rock show though.

   • I only listen to the radio as i spend most my time listening to difficult music, so waking up in the morning to Metal Machine Music is not an option!
     
     If that is true about the BBC using a potential threat of closure as a marketing scheme, then fuck auntie through her bloomers.
     
     I notice that 1Xtra is staying even though it has less listeners than both the stations being culled. Surely Radio 1 is pretty close to 1xtra musically, but with more twats on the air.
     I suppose having Westwood doing the breakfast show is keeping them afloat!
     
     Arrow Classic Rock is good...
