It is with sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the departure of our erstwhile bassist Simon Baxter, he's decided to hang up his axe for us after five years of head-banging four-stringed work.
Relations are fine, nobody has fallen out with anyone, he's just had enough of touring and gigging for the time being. We thank him for his time, enthusiasm and heavy lifting (I'll actually have to do some now) and wish him well in whatever he might choose to do next, I think he has an allotment at a hermitage at Scrane End.
This however, is not the end of Flatlands, we have vowed to carry on with a tear in our eye, we've got a european tour booked in for May and hope to record alot through 2010, but we do need a replacement, if anyone here is interested and can give up the time to join us, let us know. We only ask you live in the Sheffield area, for ease of practice, it would be helpful if you could contribute good backing vocals too.
Thankyou Si, it's been awesome being in a band with you.
The two events are quite unrelated - I've been meaning to get rid of the hair for ages, finally got round to it with my mother's encouragement over christmas.
The band thing... well, I suppose I've just lost my enthusiasm. These things happen.
Well you better not vanish out of my life Si I will cry. I think your ace! I think that of all the fatlads your all special to me. Tourinz 2006 (?) (was it?) was one of the most fun times I ever did have!
