   • I seem to remember there was but search isn't bringing anything up.
     
     I've never needed a PayPal account for anything but have just seen something online I really want to buy on a US site that only accepts that or credit cards (which I also don't have).
     
     In this thread that I may have dreamed, I thought people had had some negative experiences with their accounts. Should I get one? Or wait til I get my credit card?

   • I've been using it for years and never had any problems.
     
     The only issue i came across was when i first started selling stuff on ebay and found that i needed to change my account so a percentage of all my sales went to paypal, but that doesn' bother me now.

   • Mine was once hacked and they racked up a few hundred quid on my credit card. However it was all sorted in a matter of days and they even paid me back a bit too much, but I didn't tell them that bit.
     
     Hasn't put me off using it at all. Great system.

   • Only problem I had was selling too much stuff/making too much money (ahem...not through the label unfortunately, doing a house clearance) and they froze the account until I could prove my details etc. Once I did (after about 2 - 3 weeks of it being frozen though) all was fine and never had any problems.

      I sold an amp on ebay recently and although the money was paid straight away, Paypal threatened to (and did) hold my money for 21 days in case i defrauded the seller! They will only release the money when positive feedback is left.
      
      So they've started acting as an (illegal?) escrow company, seizing peoples money and holding it (in their high interest accounts?) until they decided i'm not a con-man while i get hit with bank charges.
      
      IT WAS MY FUCKING MONEY sent to me by a private individual in a private deal... and MOST IMPORTANTLY at no point was any mention of paypal acting as escrow company mentioned. I make that theft by deception. Yeah they released my money eventually but not fast enough to avoid me being hit with bank charges and bounced debit charges.
      
      Seriously i will never use paypal again. They stole MY money for several weeks.

    • It was paypal based, with an ebay cherry on top. I get the impression they were in it together.
      
      Apparently i didn't have enough 'experience' or whatever and it was above their threshold (it was about £1000 that i needed to pay bills and eat).
      
      Either way, they took his money and then wouldn't give it to me. And for a money-transfer business thats just retarded.
