i think that's out. but on a vaguely related note we will (thanks to Podge) be making all the tracks from the second 9hz compiltaion available for download soon.
i'm a perfectionist when other people have to do the work, for example the green of the ninehertz logo and the green of the main menu are 1 shade different
yeh that colour difference has been annoying me too, i'm sure it wasn't like that on the original template. will have a look this weekend.
quote:
plus some times the main menu is a couple of pixels to the right longer than the logo meaning there is a little step in the site.
not sure what you mean here - could you send me a screenshot?
oh, and I think changing colours will probably be part of the customisation options we'll introduce later on.
Regarding Podge's suggestions for filling the space, we will look into this but at the moment our priority is to get the bugs out of the way before we look at more cool stuff like that.
yeah, that's cool, you've had them since the start, they are only suggestions, its not essential.
To go back to Ben's big post... just wanted to say:
I'm in no way saying the old site was better than this, and I am not dismissing the work you've put in. I have only ever said the new site works better than the old one.
My issues are with how it looks, and as Ben points out, this is entirely separate to how it works.
I appreciate that this is a matter of opinion. I don't think the old site looked amazing, so kind of resent the implication that this is nostalgia or a knee jerk reaction to change.
Sorry if that's a bit ranty, but I keep getting the impression people aren't reading what I'm actually typing, and then getting upset about things I've not said.
To be constructive, I've just been looking at this site side by side with the BBC one, and I stand by my position that there is far too much white space on here. I can understand wanting to look clean and modern and so forth, but there's something about the font sizes and the relatively low amount of info you get on one page here that makes it feel like there's not much on the site, and what there is being stretched to fill the space. Although I realise, of course, that the beeb have got a hell of a lot more content to choose from, by virtue of being the motherfucking BBC, yo.
As an addenda to that, looking at this post after I made it, the page looks ok. A full text box, and stuff all down the right of the screen (although the content of them green boxes could be varied... I'll think on that). But, for example, the home page has a lot on it but just looks really basic. I can't say exactly what it lacks, but something to break up the big white background.
I've grown to love it, just too used to the old one is all. We all spend far too much time on this site so someone was bound to complain when a refurb came out of nowhere.
my suggestion was to have on the right the "gigs i'm going to" box and on the left a text based latest news and reviews kinda thing to bring the 2 sides even more together. but as Ben says, he needs to get all the bugs out before moving on to added extras
