      All of Kyuss' shit
Some bass-heavy hip hop for rolling with the windows down, Cypress Hill's first album comes to mind

^this^ although i'd say it would have to be III: Temple Of Boom from Da Hillzzz for me.

The new Ten East stuff is seeming like it'd make good relaxing summertime driving chun-age...B-B-BAAM!

Yeah, the new Ten East tracks are cool, good that Scott Reeder's involved as well. Scott's solo album "Tunnelvision Brilliance" is a great album, in case anybody hasn't checked it out yet!

Yeah, beeen wanting to check that album out for a while. Is it a mix of all the stuff he's into, or focused on one particular sound?

Smokey Cypress Hill is damn good summer listening, I'll agree. Most sounds with lots of bass and groove do it well.

Scott's album is very laid back sounding, probably not what most people would've expected, but cool none the less! Check out the mp3:

Wow, that was surprising. When you said it was more chilled I still didn't think it'd be like that. Very good... sounds like he spent a hell of a long time in a studio.

Yeah, spent an age in the studio, in the CD notes it says " it was written, performed, recorded between December 1987 & June 2005"!! A definite labour of love!!

    • Bump

Going away on Friday and need some good driving/summer music (seperate threads perhaps). Thought I'd trawl this up and plunder the depths... apart from the emo mentioned.

DL'ing some Fu Manchu and Black Keys... and some Pennywise.

    • Saying this I'm actually listening to Meshuggah right now.

    • Wow - cool that you mention "Ten Days Before Summer". I was just talking to Jim last night about the possibility of a one off "Ten Years After Summer" gig next year, what with it being 10 years since the record came out. The only problem being is that the Hangnail drummer seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet!

    • Summer listening is all about -

      The Roots
      J5
      Rise Against
      Minus The Bear
      Air
and some kind of Andy C D&B compilation

Ten years? Holy shit. I still remember buying it, I think it was about the last ever album I bought based on a Kerrang recommendation! Still on regular rotation for me, I'd be well up for road tripping it to a gig.

    • my summer album has to be Shinki Chen - Shinki Chen & Friends. That sums up the last 4 summers.

also Led Zep IV is on in the car pretty much most of the time.
