    • The Super Economy one on here is only £50 a day. It's got 9 seats, some storage space and an engine.

    • I dislike this part:

      11. The hirer agrees that the £750 deposit payable under this agreement may be used by the lessor to offset the cost of repairs in the event that the lessor’s vehicle or a third party vehicle is damaged.

Can buy a van for that much!

    • True but I'd guess that's a pretty standard deposit.

It's probably a better quality van than you'd get for £750. Although once you add in a weeks worth of hire.....

    • 9 days hire at £50 then £750 on top...ouch!!! Plus they only accept deposit by debit or credit card.

    • That seems pretty reasonable to me. If I was renting out my van I'd do the same.

    • I've looked into a few places, I can see why they have the deposit but most of them arent that high + other vans come with full RAC cover etc included which that one doesnt. A lot of them are around £200 deposit to cover the insurance excess which makes more sense.

They kind of offset the high deposit with slightly lower daily rental...but only slightly. You have to look at the small print on all of them as well as some charge extra for additional drivers or mileage...etc. Some of them you can pay a lower deposit but usually you have to pay something like an extra £10 or £20/day for the privilege. I think these guys assume there is some sort of label backing or bands are getting fuck off great big pay cheques from the gigs to cover it. It may be worth talking to a few of them and seeing if there is some sort of deal to be had for a 9 day rental or whatever.
