As I seem to have found myself in two bands all of a sudden, I need to start thinking about buying some kit. As I have use of most of a kit at both places I practice I think the most sensible place to start would be with cymbals, as the ones I used last night were terrible.
I know very little, and don't really have a budget in mind. I just want to spend as little as is possible to get some 'reasonable' cymbals. Is it worth buying a pack or is better to mix and match? Is it worth looking at second-hand? Any suggestions welcome.
If you don't hit them really hard then get a pack to start with, something like the Zildjian ZBTs or ZXTs. That should give you a full range of cymbals for a reasonable price that sound ok.
If you do play really hard then they will eventually crack, if not they should last.
Stagg higher end range are pretty cheap still but durable. Ziljan you do pay for the name I'm told by my drummer. He gets his off e-bay and says you can pick some nice stuff up second hand.
