Weak End

    • Morrisons is moving into the 21st century from next week. We're gonna have swipe card system to replace the old clocking on machine, this will mean that wages are automatically calculated at head office rather than instore (so i believe) It does mean that we can't go over our contracted hours for the week by even 15 minutes, and the real wank part i was told last night is that people have to work the hours they are rotaed to do, i'm down to work 11-7 each night (11-6 tuesday) - this is going to mean that i don't have any freedom like i've had all the years i've been on nights and it'll mean that i won't be able to start late, e.g. if i want to go to a gig before work, definately not on short notice (within 1-2 wks) anyway.

I can see this being a major pain in the rectum. Plus with the amount of shit i've been getting in the last couple of months from the new GM i'm starting to think i'd be better off elsewhere!

    • Sounds shit. We've got a new system come in at work telling us when to leave the store, when to get to customers houses, when to fart etc but its a pile of shit.
They say its meant to save petrol but how can driving past a house 3 times in its delivery slot to deliver it 5 minutes before the end of their slot be economical?
I raised this with the head honcho and was basically told "do what the sheet says"
      Fuck that.

Our GSM is going also going off on one about hi-viz vests being worn in the canteen. I put mine down for 2 seconds while getting some water yesterday, turned round and it was gone.
In the 2 seconds I was in the kitchen of the canteen the fucker had given it to security to take back down to the warehouse. It's only my own fucking vest from home with my name written across the back in massive letters.

I heard a roumer Morribobs was starting a home shopping service. Is that true?

Seeing as Monday and Tuesday are my weekend today I have washed the car, mown the lawn, wd-40'd all the doors in the house cos they were doing my head in with their squeaking antics and installed a new heat sink to my graphics card which works a treat.

      Now for WoW

      Jesus I shore can type...

    • I got sick of my job and handed in my notice last week.
I'm not prepared to take shit any more.
They were very surprised and didn't like it and tried their best to make me stay , offering me the shifts I'd been asking for since Christmas.
      Fuck em.
The 2 exit interviews lasted way longer than the recruitment interview that got me the job.
Looking forward to a relaxing summer.

    • One of our drivers who only worked 1 day a week left last week cos his other job was offering him 30 quid an hour on nights and he told them during his leaving interview this and they were still like "Well why would you want to leave this job"
      Hmmm let me think...

Have a good summer Kev :)

    • Thanks Laddeth!
Been sorting out my back garden / yard this weekend, weeding and all that.
Got me a ghetto blaster and a big oil drum for some hobo style evening drink sessions this summer.
      All welcome.

Not heard owt about home shopping - i'd dread to think how wank it would be it we did it. In fact on nights we hear very little about anything.

Got my new name badge/swipe card last night and wahey it works. People have had to hand their old name badge in to get their new one (a two in one name badge with barcode on back to swipe in and out of work). People who have been on holiday for the last two weeks and returned last night/early this morning didn't get one though so couldn't swipe in.

If anyone loses their new badge it'll cost £5 for a new one - considering the amount of name badges that people lose i don't see the sense in having a two in one. Why not let people keep their old badge and have a swipe card they keep in their pocket/locker. Mine's staying in my pocket where it won't get lost, considering last year when they handed name badges out to nights for the first time my first one broke on the 2nd night and the 2nd one got lost within a week.

Regarding the rota hours i've heard different versions but nothing concrete, i'm going with the one i heard late last week whereby a persons manager just has to make sure they work their contracted hours for the week, makes more sense anyway.

Talking of wd40 my locker door needs doing at work, 14 years has taken it's toll on the lock. eeek.

I've actually edited my post to reduce waffle!

In August I'm there Kev. Invite me round.

    • An update to the new swiping system at work; everyone has to work the hours that are on their rota to the minute! So if all the night shift are rota'd to start at 22.00 they all have to start at that time - they can't even start at 21.59 as the system flags it up. Sounds totally retarded to me. I clocked off at 6.58 this morning and all but one of the people who were due to start at 7am had already swiped and were on their way to their departments.

Once the system has flagged someone's hours their manager then has to go into the system and change the rota on the computer so it can cope with the times the person's actually worked.

So here we are in 2009, the age were computers are that sophisticated that they are working on cars that can drive themselves etc and we have this a totally ridicoulous system to calculate peoples wages that seems like it was part of a design that ceased to be in 1982.

Anyone else work for a company were you have to clock on to the minute exactly, not even so much as one minute early (or late) ??
    • LaddethLaddeth
    • On ours your meant to clock in in a 10 minute window around your start time otherwise it throws up an "unauthorised" on the punch details but seeing as our department works funny hours nooone particularly gives a shit.
Well the PIM (profit *something* manager) does but she can suck my motherfucking dick.

I always tend to clock in early cos I tend to go home an hour early (although not so much recently thanks to the SHIT new system)
God I hate work at the moment.

Turns out Morrisons are going to start a home delivery service. The way things are going at the moment our whole department at work will quit and just move down the road to them.
Theyd love that, having a readymade department roll up lol

    • not sure moving from your place to mozza's would be a wise choice but i may be wrong.

The only times this week when i've worked anywhere like on my rota is when i've finished which has been about 7am, and apparently finishing times don't have to be exact as starting times. Tbh i can't see the current rules being in place for long, not if they want to make the new system better than the old one, which is what it's all about i'd have thought.

I'm gonna come up with a basic rota that i'd like to work and let my manager know anytime i want to change it e.g gigs, footy or other social occasions. He's wank at communication though so exciting times lay ahead.

But basically whether i start at 9pm or 12 it's still the same work i have to do and i never see anyone else from my department for it to be an issue. Things always seems to change for the worst! With computers being as good as they are today i can't see what would be simpler that the computer simply logging what time people start, finish and then adding the hours up.

    • one more post on the work situation, turns out the night manager has been talking bollocks (possibly due to some of his staff taking the piss and clocking off at 53 minutes past and not staying until the hour mark) turns out you are allowed to clock on 5 or 10 minutes early as before, but if you clock on 3 minutes late or don't stick to your hours the system flags it up and the manager is called into the office to sort out why.

So not as complexed as we were told thurs night! I just need to make sure i tell my boss if i plan to start early or late and try to keep to the hours. Also anyone who goes over their contracted hours has to be paid overtime, but the system stops people taking the piss as some/most people have done in the past.

I've left my boss a base rota, and the hours i want to work next week so he can adjust the system to prevent any flagging. Plans to go out monday tuesday before work and i ain't gonna be working at 11pm unless they really kick off - which they (hopefully) shouldn't do.
