    • I came across this reasonably new Somerset band recently SALUTE.

Absolutely the best band I've heard in ages, and loads of people have told me they are killer generally. It's Celtic Frost style doomy black metal with great songs and swagger...

Really excited to have them playing Skill Wizard (new layout and sound system) for FREE on Sat 13th February. Supported by doomers OLD MAYOR and one more tbc...

I really would come check them out if you can, check out 'Shredding Belt' on their MySpace, incredible.

    • We played with them in Bristol...I was really looking forward to seeing them but remained deeply unimpressed. Taking 20 minutes to get their smoke machine to work and cutting into our set was bad enough but the music really didn't salvage them I'm afraid. I could have forgiven them if it had.

    • Salute are great, I'm going to try and get to this, even if it is in London.

I wanted a smoke machine for our kitchen...instead we are putting the money towards a dishwasher. Now where is the fun in that?

    • Ah, that kind of sucks Ollie, but I do have a few smoke machines so at least that won't be an issue I guess!

You have a few and I have none. You must the happiest man in the world of rock?
    • MarekMarek
    • They do bring me a lot of joy, more regularly than I would have predicted. They suit many occasions. Although people make 'I can't breath' faces when you put them on in small rooms at parties... spastics.
    • MazzMazz
    • Good word...well used.

It’s like going to ROCK and ROLL show and complaining that it tooooooooooo loud. Spastics.

    • Talking of spastic (jokes) the ace thrash with grind chaps NEBUKADNEZZA have joined the unholy bill. Still free and will run earlier than RAMESSES by about 3 hours! Three great bands I must say, OLD MAYOR are awesome live apparently, solid doom

    • I love smoke machines.

      I like their scent.

Would love one for Crumbling Ghost.

      And some lazers.
