    • Hey everyone. I think this has come up numerous times before on the old forum, so apologies for going over old ground!

Ehnahre are possibly (hopefully) coming over April/May and I'm trying to find a cheap van hire place. As I know a lot of people on here have toured I was wondering if anyone has favourites they hire from?

I'm looking for a van that can comfortably fit 5 guys in with a decent amount of gear. They'd need it in the UK for about 7/8 days.

Also, how many times would you expect to fill it up with petrol in that time frame and how much would a full tank cost?

Thanks for any info anyone might give!! :)

    • last time i spoke to anyone, Dean from the miz diz was doing self hire as all his drivers were struggling with it.

    • Splitter vans are bloody expensive to hire. It's worth looking at small minibuses, you can cram gear in around the seats easy enough - we managed 10 people and two bands worth of gear in a 17 seater, so 5 in a 12 should be ok. I'd recommend checking out small local firms for buses rather than the big companies, they tend to be a lot cheaper.
As for diesel, it totally depends on mileage. You can do 8 days around a smallish part of the country and fill up twice, or do 5 but take in Scotland and the south coast and fill up 3 or 4 times.

    • Nice one guys. I was only speaking to Dean a few days ago, so I might ask him.

Thanks for the advice Si - minibus sounds cool.

    • We use Action hire in Brum (but they hire out right nails... do the job through). £300 for a week - 6 seater, long wheel base splitter van. That's probably really expensive but it's all we could get locally, split between 6 people = not too bad!!

    • If you can get roughly 50-80 quid a gig for 4 or 5 nights, it'll pay for itself at that price I'd reckon.

    • That's cheap-o-rama for a splitter van.

    • We should get one if its 6 seats and room in the back fo sho if we go on a long tour again.

    • Yeah, but one of us would have to go to Birmingham to fetch it. Not entirely practical. We could get a dinky minibus from Adam's usual place in Lincoln for about the same, I reckon.

    • OK, I'll have to have a chat with them. I think they're looking at €250/night for 14 nights across UK/Europe. Building in a bit of merch sold hopefully they'll break even.

    • Thats around £125, which is pretty good for a foreign band! Do they want to play Sheffield?

    • Anyone know of any places that have a 10/11 seater splitter (do such things exist) - needs to seat 10 people plus driver and a big old backline
    • mikemike
    • The minibus from Lincoln, we fit that many people plus backline in, just make sure you get one you can remove the back seats of, otherwise you'll be posting amps over seats to get them in every night!

    • Are they cool with you taking out the seats??

    • Big SiBig Si
    • No idea, we never ask.

    • Hey Mike - they would love to play Sheffield! However, that sign was a Euro (€) not a Dollar ($). So it's actually around £195/200.

If you're still interested give me a PM and I'll direct you to the tour booker. It's all still a bit up in the air though.
