Hello lovers im back again from the dead with a sexy question!
Ok so imagine that for a while my band has been playing in B tuning BEADF#E playing our usual prog hardcore psych gubbins but with a bit more post metal and heavier versions of Led Zepplin style riffs thrown in
We are working on a song that is currently 30 minutes long and we are working on it being over an hour in the end!
Now say that during one of our weird post rock ambient avant garde bits in this song i Loop some gubbins turn down the volume on the guitar and while the loop is going on i change to the second imput on my amp and cue up a second guitar tuned in E now say that i switch of this loop and my band mates follow me immediately into some proper kinda hendrix esque blues but without the woolyness of B tuning so a nice crisp blues tone do you think that would work? and then at some stage doing the reverse returning to B tuning
Or do you think it would sound wrong?
my lady is saying that it wont fit with our sound but im thinking this is bullshit i reckon it will work gonna try it at practice this sat but just thought i would ask for opinions
Yeah that could work, potential for shit to go wrong live. I've learnt that over the years the more complex the set up the more is likley to go wrong. But its worth a try mate for sure.
There's no reason for that to sound wrong, it's akin to using a 7-string guitar although the only stumbling block is the F#E on the first and second string as it does mean a bit of shuffling about on the fret board. Maybe tune the standard to run off the B guitar or vice versa to make the transition more natural.
