     I have a Hiwatt PA head that i'm kinda looking to get rid of, you can see it HERE and I have a better pic of the front too some where. Chris (Hopkins on here) is using it at the moment and Big Si has also used it, both say its ace, so much so that Si has looked at getting rid of his ampeg and getting something similar.
     
     Ampeg are good but hella expensive, you'll never find a Sunn, the orange heads arent supposed to be that good, matamp bass stuff is difficult to find but you could custom order it, Sound City 200s are rare but they are supposed to sound awesome

   • Thanks for the advice dude. That Hiwatt PA head looks good from the pics..a bit different. Does it have enough low end to it and can the tubes be overdriven pretty easily for some crunchy tone?

   • Having used it a bit, Podge's amp does have a lot of low end and plenty of power. But, as a PA amp, it has no pre-amp so you can't really get a driven crunch out of it. For what I think you're talking about, you'd need something like a SansAmp driver to generate the crunch. If your bass has an active EQ, that'll help as well.
     
     To be honest, I thought Podge had flogged this. If he ever tells me how much he wants for it, I may yet snaffle it.

   • the guy that serviced it said run the masters high and then adjust the volume at the channel to get the best sound out of it. dunno if that helps.
     
     the head cost me 100 to buy and then 360 to service so i'm open to offers as I don't really know its proper value

   • Thanks for the help dude. The head sounds decent but I think Im gonna carry on holding out for something like the Ampeg V4-B or a Sunn 190B. kind of got my heart set on one of them. Ive seen the Sunn go on ebay once in the last year and a couple of the ampegs as well. I may find myself trawling ebay for a while!
