    • METALBREW 2009 LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

      Okay, here we bloody go!

The line-up for Metalbrew 2009, to be held at Mill Hill Rugby Club, North-West London, on Saturday 18th July is.......

      GRIM REAPER
      HOSPITAL OF DEATH
      BATTLEWITCH
      NEBUKADNEZZA
      DRAWBRIDGE MAN
      SICK TO DEATH
      CHUG
      AFAKTOR

And there you have it. We are especially proud to announced that Steve Grimmet's GRIM REAPER are headlining the 6th annual Metalbrew festival. In the continuing tradition of getting classic rocking bands to headline Mill Hill's favourite outdoor festival (LEAFHOUND in 2006, CLOVEN HOOF/PAGAN ALTAR in 2007), the Metalbrew team are delighted to bring to the land of North-West London one of the most legendary and majestic New Wave Of British Heavy Metal bands who enjoyed major success in the 1980s, charting in the US with all their releases. With three classic albums under their belt (See You In Hell, Rock You To Hell and Fear No Evil), Grim Reaper, fronted by the amazingly talented Steve Grimmet, have gathered a cult following over the years, and epitomised many of the strengths of British heavy metal. After breaking up way back in 1988, Steve Grimmet recently finally resurrected Grim Reaper, and now we are lucky enough to have them playing at our home town. Just to reiterate, this is amazing. Very, very amazing.

Alongside the heavy metal greats, we also have speed metal giants HOSPITAL OF DEATH (otherwise known as HOD) from the north of Great Britain, and the glorious and brilliant BATTLEWITCH, a sort of NWOBHM/Doom hybrid from Bath. This will certainly make for a night of classic heavy metal rocking.

The five other bands joining us on the day are all London-based local acts, all of which have given their utmost support to Metalbrew in the past, and who together represent a cross-section of some of our favourite genres of metal and rock. Opening the day we have AFAKTOR, a 3-piece classic rock band from Mill Hill in the vein of Motorhead and Deep Purple, who will literally rock your face off. CHUG, a new emerging band from these lands, are comprised of members of the band Devulfish, who headlined the first two Metalbrew festivals and who were a staple of the Mill Hill music scene back in the day. We are all looking forward to seeing what they will unleash upon us! SICK TO DEATH are one of the most energetic, angry bands you'll see this side of London, with something important to say as well as some crushing punk/thrash/crossover riffage to destroy our faces with. We then have DRAWBRIDGE MAN, a Kyuss-influenced stoner band from the kingdom of Barnet, comprised of members of previous bands such as Aorta, Box Monster, and probably some more that I can't think of right now. They have been long-time supporters of Metalbrew and we are proud to have this fantastically awesome band with us this year. And finally, we have NEBUKADNEZZA, who will quite literally rip your face off. And your head. And maybe your arms and legs too.

Well, there you go, the time has finally come to enjoy another dose of heavy metal at what will hopefully be another sunny, delightful day of fun and burgers. This day is known as Metalbrew, and on this day, you will have the best, most rocking time of your life.

      That is all. Farewell.
