    • ...has leaked.

I'm now going to stop up and listen to it as i'm not at work tomorrow, and i'm a fanboy.

But i'm guessing new ISIS > new Mastodon

    • I hope for both bands their new efforts are far better than their last albums.

    • Not heard the new Isis album yet but the new Mastodon is alright! The track with Scott Kelly on is amazing!

    • I've listened to blood mountain more than i thought i had (according to last.fm) i've listened to the isis album less - can't even remember what it's called, although it has grown on me.

Perhaps both bands will never be as good as they once were?

    • There was a plethora of albums that came out within months of each other that all seemed a bit lackluster - Blood Mountain, In The Absence of Truth, Somewhere Along The Highway, 10,000 Days... to name a few... but I'd have to say that since re-listening to these albums 10,000 days and ITAOT seemed to have grown on me like some kind of rolling moss. so im pretty psyched about the new Isis

    • Just got the new ISIS, Mastodon and Kylesa. Weird how they all come out very close again...l

So far i am enjoying the new Mastodon the most its a bit more down tempo than i expected but its catchy and still has that mastodon sound to it. The new ISIS sounded very good on first listen just needs more plays!

    • I've just got it.

I've been pleasantly surprised so far. I'd say my early opinion is that its dead in the middle of Celestial and the last one.

Definitely better than in the absence of truth.

    • Review very soon, really good from my partial listens, will be analysing it a bit more before I write much on it though.

Satisfyingly chuggier than the last, but still with the cool chilled element.

    • Its definitely a lot rawer... and that is nothing but a good thing... the last effort was far too polished it lacked that Isis passion that really stood out on Oceanic... a definite return to form I say

    • There are clear echoes of Oceanic, that is a good thing.

    • It's very different, well, you can still tell it's Isis. The post rock has moved on to post post rock, which just happens to sound like rock did before it got posted. The dense layers which gave the impression of Prog Metal atmospherics, but which was in fact Boss pedal technology, seems to have given way to a cleaner, and I think heavier sound. I was very disappointed in their 2008 release, this on the other hand is more akin to getting all their shit in a sock. It's more akin to Neurosis now, although Isis have some way to go to reach that standard. Maybe if they've sold some of those pedals they can start the journey.
