I've uploaded the Dropout sessions cd for anyone who wants it and I've just made a little compilation of a few live recordings, the quality is up and down but there's a version of road in there that's pretty different
Heres a dropout sessions review (from www.lowcut.dk):
Imagine Hendrix jamming with The Heads in a small, dark and moist rehearsal room and everything was recorded live to 1/2” tape – well, then you might have an idea of what Stubb is all about! But this is actually just a trio of two guys and a young lady from London in love with acid rock. To me a real powertrio is when the rhythm group is one symbiotic unit and the front man is a singer and killer guitarist. Stubb is like that – power and trio! Just like Eddie Glass of Nebula guitarist Jack excels in heretic solos and has the ability to sing along on the notes in both choruses and solos.
This demo is unfortunately only three tracks and that is far from enough to satisfy my admiration for this great band. Last track “Galloping Horses” is luckily a more than eight minutes long show-off of true vintage heavy blues-rock ala Blue Cheer. The track starts out heavy with the line: “I ride on a pale horse” then turns into a slow acid rocker and in the end comes back into heavy blues. The production is raw, but just right for this kind of music.
Hope you don't mind me spreading the word on Stubb with your links. Fandiddytasic band. There's been a big poster glued to the wall of The Junction in Bristol with Stubb on it for a couple of years now. Shame about the 128kbps live cuts, goes down to 96, akin to listening to it on the telephone.
