    • Anybody got any experience here?

I've got a copy of Vegas 7 and I'm gonna dive in and just start mucking about but if anybody has any good tips (ooh err) or pointers (fnarr fnarr) that would be cool. Are there any decent quickstart guides?

    • never used Sony Vegas, I use Final Cut every day and I've used premiere. My top tip would be to remember garbage in = garbage out. Keep the quality of the clips high etc . Also remember to use the correct screen resolutions 4:3 is like an older tv is 720x576, 16:9 widescreen is 1024x576.

    • Ahem. Well the recording was done on 3 separate digital cameras so quality-wise......I'm shafted from the start. I'll probably overlay some fancy effect to hide the quality. It's more just for a muck about anyway. Resolution I think is at 640 by 480 so that's gonna have to stay like it I guess.

    • top tip to make the digital footage look nicer, deinterlace it, should be in the menus somewhere, kind of takes the harshness out. Find colour correction and add some saturation. Makes the footage look a bit more film like. Can tweak colours while you at it. lower the black levels slightly etc

    • Awesome. Thanks Jack I'll give that a go.

Have to give this a try, I've been trying to find ways to get that effect on premiere. I remember seeing a 'making of' thing for The League Of Gentlemen where they said they also removed 1 in every so many frames from DV footage to make it more film like, but I reckon that might be beyond me.

    • yup you can do that too, or change the frame rate
