The Brainwash Festival returns for a third year having hosted Oceansize, This Et Al, iLiKETRAiNS, Clark, Youthmovies, Unsane, Adem and many more the last couple of years... again it'll be at the king of live music in Leeds, the Brudenell Social Club, with the smaller stage next door at the Royal Park Cellars. This year the event is sponsored by Rock Sound, who'll be DJ-ing the afterparty on the Saturday night. We also have our friends Forest Of Sound running a third stage on the Saturday, plus cake and all profits going to charity; this year will be split between Sheffield Children's Hospital and a new project that's being set up in Laos to help poor villages. The bonus with the Laos project is that the guy running it will be keeping me updated on progress, so you'll actually be able to see what the money you've helped raise has done.
Most importantly, we have some amazing bands/artists booked to play! Most of the bands are here, plus there's a few surprises to be added...
“Japanese quartet LITE pack an impressive emotional weight alongside the inevitable barrage of musical technicality. At times recalling the much-missed Frodus, the warm guitar tones of track such as ‘Human Gift’ are sent skyward on the back of the band’s extravagantly gifted rhythm section while the sweeping e-bow of ‘RE’ possesses a grandeur worthy of Explosions In The Sky. Indeed it’s this unashamedly epic and accessible streak that makes LITE so appealing - Minus The Bear fans will likely find much to love here - and ‘Filmlets’ should prove a more than worthy substitute for math-rock aficionados mourning the decline of Don Cab.”
