The line for soundmen?

    • I quite like the idea of getting a massive stack and plugging my acoustic into it. Britain's loudest folk duo - bollocks to you soundman, I'm rocking out!

    • I prefer it when there's just a vocal PA and we can just belt the backline up.

I hate being asked to turn down and I hate the patronising "it's ok we have a PA for volume"..."yes mate but your monitors on stage sound like shit and if you were a half decent sound engineer you'd know that any guitar amp sounds better when you can crank it and push the speakers...get a better fucking PA if it can't handle it"

Wish I'd actually had the balls to say this.

Thing is, though, every time I see a band who do, I always think they're a bunch of cocks.

    • I'm a big fan of just a vocal pa and crank the amps up. Worked ok in the 60s/70s, works ok now

    • Can't wait until Koresh get a gig with a decent soundman. We always end up sounding like shit.

      It's not our fault, honest.

Closest we got to perfect so far was Podge and even then he'd forgotten to turn the microphones on.

    • That was awesome! The best bit was when I pointed it out and he corrected it, and it pretty much sounded exactly the same :)

Very true, also the main pa speakers were off, you were just ripping it through the monitors

yes it is our fault. we sound good in practice but get over5excited whe we play gigs...no big deal. i can roll with that, but you lot have bought the rukles in that i have tp LIVE by and that means less clowning around.

as for sound men...i now have the "persuader" in my guitar bag so can pretty much do what i want.

Leave off! That gig was killer! Ish. Even though I said onstage that it was bollocks.

Donny, have you been talking to Morrell about me, haha!

    • Had a soundman sound check us starting with the vocals and ending with the bass drum then upon realising that was all wrong, left for five minutes, came back and started again from the bass drum. He also disappeared during our set and put a phaser on the whole mix for the band after us!

The guy at that Sheffield gig with Lesbian and Pombagira, who couldn't turn the vocals up without adding masses of reverb to them, making everything feedback everytime we went near a microphone.

That guy made Mike storm off stage in a huff with the self same trick. Good times.
