hello,
due to a shady promoter pulling out on us, Rachmanite seem to have a free spot in their calender that we'd like to fill.
we currently have:
Thursday 02 October - London
Friday 03 October - Help Please
Saturday 04 October - Sheffield
if anyone can help us with the 03 October, that would be brilliant.
for those that don't know us, were just guitar and drums, we play for 15 to 20 minutes max, we don't care if were on first and we'll play for pretty much nothing (depending on how easy it is for us to get there).
you can hear our demo here www.myspace.com/rachmanite
we've been described as "post rock, but shorter, and better" other than that i cant really help too much with a description, have a listen and see what you think.
Thanks, Podge

I have to admit on paper when I first heard about this band I was pretty wary. A two piece instrumental band with guitar and drums. If I'm completely honest I was fully expecting this to be a half formed load of shit. Well put my words on a plate and serve it up with a big slice of humble pie as I'm about to chow down and declare this 4 track offering an understated masterpiece!!!
I really don't know how to categorise this band as it's pretty well outside my usual field of listening…it's heavy but it isn't metal, it's too heavy for the dreary post rock crowd, it has a groove and plenty of fuzz but it sure ain't stoner, it's bleak in places but it ain't doom…fuck it I give up, it's just Rachmanite!!!

Their debut demo consists of 4 powerful tracks, full of doom-heavy riffs, smoky melodies and repetitive bravery. For a newbie like me a first listen to the demo can make it seem dull, monotonous and grey but soon the different shades of grey shine through, and how they shine.
It is a demo full of emotion, the drums manage to stir up a storm just to seconds later create an almost calming beat, sending me into a kind of trance, a dream world underwater bubble outside which a battle is being fought.
Starting off slow and heavy at times, like in beautiful Stockholm, and ending in a firework of rage and riffs, as they do throughout, they do have similarities to bands such as Cult of Luna but have somehow managed to create their own mysterious sound.
cheers for that, we asked them about the Sunday and they said they were full, but i'll drop them a line about the Friday too, maybe they'll have some one pull out.
all going to plan we'll be playing with Donny / Korech at some place. dunno the full details yet. need to make sure i can get the time off work first but it shouldn't be a problem.
