In fact as I am wasting time, here's my new Fantasy XV
Richard Loe
Jason Fitzpatrick
Gethin Jenkins
John Eales
Simon Shaw
Richie McCaw
Serge Betsen
Imanol Harinordoquy
Robert Jones
Dan Carter
Phillipe Sella
David Duckham
John Kirwan
Ieuan Evans
Serge Blanco
Do you mean Sean Fitzpatrick? Or is Jason Fitzpatrick someone I am too young tor remember?
Not a bad team mind, though as for modern no.8s, I would go for Sergio Parisse all the way.
my fantasy xv would feature joost van der westhuysen, vai'ga tuingamala and jonah lomu. it would also feature neil back, raphael ibanez, brian o'driscoll, scott quinell, jason robinson and some other people.
actually...that's what we need...another jason robinson! eezy!
England: Ben Foden (Northampton); Mark Cueto (Sale), Mike Tindall (Gloucester), Riki Flutey (Brive), Chris Ashton (Northampton); Toby Flood (Leicester), Danny Care (Harlequins); Tim Payne (Wasps), Dylan Hartley (Northampton), Dan Cole (Leicester), Simon Shaw (Wasps), Steve Borthwick (Saracens, capt), Joe Worsley (Wasps), Lewis Moody (Leicester), Nick Easter (Harlequins)
not bad at all...hopefully we can perform. the individuals on the teamsheet look good. i think hodgson is on the bench. the fact that him (and danny care) are anywhere near an england shirt is a fucking insult.
Why? Hodgson has consistently been one of the best English 10s for years now. If it wasn't for the fact that his goal kicking is often shit he'd probably have been first choice the whole time Wilko was injured. Good runner, stands flat, great range of passing and can make things happen. He's pretty much single handedly kept Sale in the premiership.
To be honest, it's not a good side, it's still riddled with shit. The current pool of tried and tested England players contains not one world class performer. I've had enough, time to do a Lievremont, bin the lot and see what the young uns can do.
And, on a Hodgson related note, why is it that no English players other than fly halves are goal kickers? Can think of maybe one exception. Really limits the national teams choice of 10.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?! he's one of the dullest, most uninspiring and one dimensional players to have donned the no.10 shirt. he does that shitty little toe poke that works about twice a game before opposition get the hang of it and neutralise him. he's panicky and lacks vision in my humble opinion.
He's like one of those Scottish 10s who I can't remember, ie totally nondescript. Maybe I am missing his deft little passes, and amazing vision, that's it. Actually I think the whole country is bedazzled by Johnny's action man good looks into thinking anyone who plays as dull as him is good. He is rubbish, OK not rubbish but hugely self-conscious, compare to Dan Carter. Or don't, that's just depressing. Oh fuck it, just be glad we're still allowed in the Six Nations!!!
Goalkickers (not necessrily 10s):
D Armitage
Tindall
Wigglesworth
Flood
Barkley
Hmm, Armitage isn't a regular kicker, he just potted a couple of good long uns last year. He should work on it, though, once he's stopped playing like a tosser in general.
Less said about Tindall's kicking the better. Dunno about Wiggly, but he's highly unlikely to play for England. Same for Barkley, who's a 10/12 anyway. And Flood's a 10. I know he sometimes plays 12, but it's not his position. The one exception I was thinking was Tom Homer, who's a regular kicker for Irish and usually plays in the back 3. Bit soon to say if he's international class, though. Not that that's any barrier with England.
Rich, I'm far from Charlie Hodgson's greatest fan but you're wrong, just wrong.

Comparing an English player to an All Black, let alone Carter is pointless. You'learn nothing you didn't know anyway.
Look, Hodgson's no world beater but people don't give him the credit he's due, something I've been guilty of in the past. Much more dynamic than Wilko and if you've not seen that then you've not seen him play recently.
He's Australian as far as I am concerned, twat. We have a major problem at No. 10 - who's out there in club rugby???? I go for Flood in the current morass we're in
Flood for me too, but he's still not strong enough, something Wilko has always been upto - the physical challenge. Flood is a good playmaker though, and still only a babyface.
I rate Hodgeson, and seeing him play live is very different to watching him miss his kicks on TV. I went to see Sale v Gloucester last year and he decided the game - really was a class apart.
Yeah, apologies for that shit-shower of goalkicking examples, I was just being a Devil's advocate, as usual. aka a peenarse. I still think Armitage has potential to be one though.
