Computer games again.

    • Edge magazine this month is full of amazing looking new games, looking forward to playing these-

      Fallout 3
      Street Fighter IV
      Fable 2
      Heavy Rain

The complete sandbox/experience/choice thing seems to be seeping in to new games now, which I can only see as a good thing, wish there were more in GTA IV though, as someone highlights in one of the articles, why do you get the choice to kill or save a certain few people in the game, whereas others are required to be killed, and what about the amount of people you randomly kill or mow down in the street? Do they have no forbearance? Hmmm.

I had fun yesterday aiming the rocket launcher on GTA IV at the floor and seeing how far I could make Nico fly through the air, quite far if you do it properly. Climb a bus stop, aim it at the corner of the roof near your feet and fire, well funny.

    • Very much looking forward to Fallout 3. Mainly still stoked for Little Big Planet though... going to be AWESOME.

Mike, if you like games check out 1up.com the site itself isn't great, but it has some great free podcasts: 1up Yours (audio) and 1up show (Video). Coverage is so good I've stopped buying games mags. It's american based but covers the uk release schedules and stuff too.

    • Yeah Little Big Planet looks like the kind of thing you could play for ages and never get bored of, I really like the way physics have become an integral part of games design now, it makes it so much more fun.

I've been playing Super Rub A Dub this weekend too, simple and feels like a PS1 game but still amazing use of the sixaxis pad.

    • Yeah I enjoyed the demo of that, loads of fun.

Currently playing Mercenaries demo on ps3 (you got yourself a USA account yet?) and Dirt demo.

Jayne is totally addicted to Burnout Paradise City now it's got bikes in it!

    • How do I get one of those? You got a nickname on there? I'll add you.

    • UK account name: Straight2Video

Have a quick google about setting up US and Japan accounts on ps3. It's easy but can't remember how to do it right now (only hard part is finding an address to put down... my US one is a wallmart, and the japanese one is the sony offices).

You won't be able to buy anything from their stores, but you can download the demos - some of which take months to filter over to the uk (if at all).

    • Cool, I'll look into it.

You played GTA IV online? Everyone is too good so you get shot to shit in seconds, the cops and robbers one is fun though.

I really want to see what Kane and Lynch is like online, it sounds great from the description, but nobody seems to play it.

    • I'm mambarock if you want to add me.

I got a wireless keyboard for my ps3 for my birthday which makes internet browsing a whole lot more bearable. Still undecided on the whole linux thing.
    • mikemike
    • I never use it for browsing really, nice feature though!

I'll add you too alex, could be fun to play online GTA, anyone else?
    • DonnyDonny
    • I have GTA on 360... oh well.
    • mambamamba
    • Cool. I only use it for browsing when I'm feeling too lazy to get off my arse (i.e. now).

    • This is a rumour, could have some truth;

      quote:
New Xbox Experience May launch on September 25th

Microsoft will release a dozen new demos after the launch. There will be four new downloadable pieces of content a preview of the GTA DLC. A Mass Effect expansion. Portal and a free map pack for Halo 3.

Microsoft will unveil twelve new games never seen before that will be exclusive or first on the 360. Strangely enough the author only gives out code names for said games. Though they speculate that among them is Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, a new Conker title, a Rare shooter new franchise, and two new Halo titles.

Nearly finished Lost Od' and got Tiger Woods, prob get Star Wars once finished one or other.

    • I have GTA IV on xbox now, one of the reasons I've not posted much in the last week or so. Not gone online with it, it's not really my thing.
    • mikemike
    • Its amazing isn't it Ben?

I'm up to helping out the main boss of the city it seems now, I hate most of the characters in this game but thats part of the charm.
    • mambamamba
    • I gave up on GTA when missions started taking too long and I was failing them. I should really pick it up again. I've only played once online to see what it was like and I was rubbish. There's too many far geekier people out there than me!

    • Yeah its almost pointless, they should have ranked rooms so when you get better you move up.

Yeah I'm pretty impressed. Not sure if I like it more than San Andreas though. I've just unlocked the last island, had a few massive gunfights along the way.

Here's a tip for the "chase" or "race" type missions, switch the camera to the bonnet. I find it's much easier.
    • mikemike
    • Thats a good idea, I'm stuck on a mission with the gay guy chasing down some polskis.
