Pointless Metallica celebration thread

    • They looked great last night, and I saw them being great at Reading a few years back. So here's to Metallica, the greatest metal band ever! Next to Sabbath. Great.

(I can't go out today, the weather's shit, my lovely pregnant lady wife is too tired, so here's my pointless top 10 Metallica tunes!!! Almost in order of greatness)

      1. Battery
      2. Sanitarium
      3. One
      4. For Whom the Bell Tolls
      5. Whiplash
      6. Sad But True
      7. Master of Puppets
      8. And Justice for All
      9. Lars is a money-grabbing dick, but OK then Unforgiven II
      10. Creeping Death

    • I went into Burton menswear the other day to buy a tie and they started playing Battery. I was most confused, yet very pleased.

    • I hate them on the whole, but One and Blackened (I think thats what its called) are good.

For Whom The Bell Tolls makes me feel sick.

    • I'm not the biggest fan but they were great at Reading last night.

    • I like the new one a lot. One, Sad But True and Call Of Ktulu are probably my favourites. I'll always love Metallica, they were the first metal band I really got into.

    • They surprised me at Reading. I thought they were crap when they played Master of Puppets all the way through at Donington two years ago, but they ruled on Sunday. Not enough to stop me making a break to beat the traffic when they started playing Nothing ELse Matters, mind.

    • I always like it when Jaymz pumps his fist in time withthe music and gives it the HEY HEY HEY HEY, encouraging the rabid crowd to join in ...... on every bloody song
    • mikemike
    • I don't get that at gigs, HEY HEY HEY

      HEY PLAY THE SONG

Its like Robbie Williams holding out his mic for half of a two-hour gig!

    • There is nothing wrong with HEY HEY HEYing, except when James Hetfield's bullshit stage persona does it.
    • mambamamba
    • But Metallica loves you!

It is almost as bad when Brucey does "OY OY OY" during Maiden sets.

Do you think it'd help if he started chugging beers again?

I was in rileys on sunday evening and battery came on - one of the staff is into metal, also heard enter sandman and whiskey in a jar. Then a group of old school rockers came in and put stuff like Journey on the jukebox.

    • This is a quote from the Guardian-

      quote:
In the immortal words of Noel Gallagher, I'm gonna live for ever," says Lars Ulrich. Sitting in Metallica's backstage complex at the Reading festival, which they call "the Barrio", the drummer is considering how long his band - one of the biggest live draws in the world, the group that reinvented metal and made it credible - can continue. The question of the famously combustible group's lifespan, is Ulrich admits, "the $64,000 question. The Rolling Stones are setting a great precedent, but Charlie Watts doesn't play drums on songs like Fight Fire With Fire every night, no disrespect. Will we be able to play the shit we do when we're 65? I don't know. When it becomes a joke, we'll stop."

      Made me chuckle anyway.
